On the Genetics of Fitness and Health

Linda Melone

So, a friend/colleague of mine, Linda Melone (LindaMelone.com) is a professional exercise and fitness writer. She often asks my inputs and sometimes my opinions on matters pertaining to fitness and exercise for articles she is commissioned to do or proposing to do for various magazines, paper and on line.

A while back she asked for my help on genetics of exercise, so I, having just read a research article on the matter, chimed in. I don’t recall if it got published but clearly someone somewhere found what I had to say and included it in the following article:

http://tribune.com.pk/story/1052838/6-surprising-traits-you-can-totally-blame-your-parents-for/

I send my heartfelt thanks to Umnia Shahid for the shout out. And hope all of you readers can appreciate not just my inputs but the inside scoops relevant to many of our genetic capacities and inclinations that may drive us through life.

Knowing there are those influences should mitigate the shame and guilt many carry about things they have no control over.

But knowing you can always maximize or optimize based on the limitations or capacities you were born with, you should not fall back on complacency and presume enough studying/training/working/thinking/feeling etc etc is good enough.
